 While residential properties started falling into foreclosure in 2008, experts interviewed by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said they are just starting to see retail developments get taken back by banks or sold on courthouse steps.

FORECLOSURE ACTIVITY REMAINS NEAR RECORD LEVEL IN AUGUST

RealtyTrac, the leading online marketplace for foreclosure properties, today released its August 2009 U.S. Foreclosure market Report, which shows foreclosure filings - default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions - were reported on 358,471 U.S. properties during the month, a decrease of less than 1 percent from the previous month but till an increase of nearly 18 percent from August 2008. The 
report also shows one in every 357 U.S. housing units received  foreclosure filing in August.
